Marbeth Ingle Levy
MS, SHRM-SCP, Director of Human Resources
Marbeth is deeply passionate about helping and guiding people. She truly loves people and sees the humor in everything. And that’s a good thing because she had to navigate serious obstacles during her interview process with PHILLIPS Program! While the DC sniper terrorized Northern Virginia, Marbeth pushed aside the fear that gripped us all and drove to Annandale to interview with the President and CEO. The first interview was enlightening because she did not fully understand the depth of the needs of PHILLPS’ youth. She had volunteered for Best Buddies and Special Olympics and was under the impression that we served only youth with developmental delays – not fully understanding the depth and breadth of the challenges our youth present. After talking with Sally she was inspired by our mission and thrilled to know that a place like PHILLIPS existed. When the school tried to reach her for a panel interview, there was no power at the school or her home because Hurricane Isabelle had struck. Communication was difficult because systems were down. But after five days the call finally came through! As she entered the school, three white butterflies flew past the door – a personally significant symbol that let Marbeth know she was meant to work here.
Marbeth brought over 20 years of experience in the educational nonprofit management field to PHILLIPS. Her expertise includes organizational development, leadership and management coaching, and training and development. She truly loves the human resources function and all that it entails. She is often found telling her staff, “We focus on the HUMAN part of human resources.”
She has a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management and Development and holds her SHRM-SCP certification (Society of Human Resources Management – Senior Certified Professional). Currently, she is an active member of Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Association for Talent Development (ATD).
When not at work, Marbeth loves reading non-fiction. Her favorite reads revolve around personal success, empowerment and leadership. Eighties music is her favorite. She uses her free time well and is a full on explorer of life and all it has to offer. On weekends she is found enjoying day trips to the zoo, museum, concerts or the beach – she is always doing something.
