PHILLIPS School ~ Laurel
Program Director-Applications are currently being accepted for this key leadership position within PHILLIPS Programs. The Laurel School Program Director, reporting to the President/CEO, will be responsible for all aspects of operation of a 162 pupil campus for students with emotional & behavior problems, learning disabilities and other school challenges. The Program Director will ensure that PHILLIPS values of integrity, compassion, commitment, individualization, effectiveness, and community are fully integrated into the Laurel program.
Key areas of responsibility to include:
- Direction of education programs and related services
- Supervision of faculty and administrative staff
- Senior school official and liaison to parents and students
- Fiscal management, including participation in annual budget development
- Regulatory compliance
- External representation of program to professional community and community at-large
- Participation on PHILLIPS Administration Committee
Required Credentials:
- Masters degree in education or special education strongly preferred. Masters degree in related fields, such as counseling, social work, psychology or non-profit management, will be considered.
- Significant professional experience within a special education school, preferably with classroom teaching experience.
- 5+ years supervising educators, social workers or other professional staff engaged with emotionally & behaviorally challenged students.
- Non-public special education school management and administration experience preferred.

- Understanding of strength-based behavior management approaches in working with special student populations; ability to convey positive and compassionate attitudes about students to others
- Creativity and skill in developing innovative approaches to service delivery
- Commitment to families and to forging meaningful partnerships with parents to help their children succeed in school
- Profound respect for the cultures of others, and ability to promote a culturally-affirming atmosphere within the school
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Conscientious, detailed orientation toward administrative work
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal education law, and applicability of IDEA and NCLB within a Maryland special education program
- Working knowledge of MSDE regulations

Work with families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Disabilities, supporting and teaching within a family systems model. Knowledge of Autism/Aspergers, behavioral interventions and parent training needed. BCBA and a minimum of 2 years experience required.
Autism/Aspergers Specialist – Full-Time
Knowledge of behavior and communication program development and implementation. Specialist will work closely with families and children in the home setting. Candidate will be comfortable training and modeling appropriate techniques for parents. Counseling experience a must, experience with BCBA or BCABA a plus.
