Arlington County Strong Families
In collaboration with Arlington County, PHILLIPS Family Partners provides a parenting education program for Families at risk of child welfare involvement and those families seeking permanency with their children. The course incorporates the Strengthening Families model and builds on five “Protective Factors” that promote healthy outcomes for children and families. A protective factors approach can help child welfare systems to effectively respond to trauma-affected children, youth and caregivers while addressing the capacity of families to keep children safe and support their healthy development.
In addition to classroom discussion, the course includes a home visitation component to provide the family with “real time” parenting tips tailored to their individual needs.
The parent education course meets on Tuesday evenings at Arlington County DHS for 8 consecutive weeks. Child care is provided if needed.
All referrals are made through Arlington County DHS. Please contact your case worker for further information.
